SUMMARY:Memphis Ukulele Band with Wyly Bigger & Savoiya Trainum + Opener Michael Cusack
DESCRIPTION:Memphis Ukulele Band with Wyly Bigger & Savoiya Trainum + Opener Michael Cusack \nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts \nFriday\, June 5\, 2026 \nDoors open at 7:00 PM | Show starts at 7:30 PM \n$20 in advance (plus fees) | $25 at the door \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nOne of Memphis music icons Sam Phillips’ favorite sayings was\, “if you’re not doing something different\, you’re not doing anything.” With a unique ensemble sound and surprisingly diverse repertoire\, the Memphis Ukulele Band is firmly rooted in Memphis music’s maverick tradition. \nOn a quiet night at the legendary Sun Studio\, three friends and local music veterans decided to form a ukulele band. Fast forward a few years and two additional members later\, and they have opened for Jake Shimabukuro\, released two albums\, played acclaimed festivals such as Folk Alliance and Americana Fest\, and headlined Kauai Farm Bureau County Fair on Kauai\, Hawaii. They’ve been featured on PBS on Sun Studio Sessions\, DittyTV\, Music City Roots and NPR’s internationally syndicated Beale Street Caravan. \nMemphis is known as the birthplace of many musical styles\, and the Memphis Ukulele Band is firmly in that rich\, diverse tradition\, playing everything from rockabilly to the blues\, pop to Gospel.. \nIn both live performances and on their recordings\, Memphis Ukulele Band’s covers and originals exude pure fun while exploring the genre-bending range of the ukulele. \nIn 2026 they will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their eponymous debut album on Bluebarrel Records.

SUMMARY:The Mystic
DESCRIPTION:So\, what is The Mystic? The Mystic is a catalyst; through music\, story\, silence and dialogue\, we hope to strengthen our attachment to hopes and dreams. In the mystic\, diversity is a prerequisite for all creativity\, which is why Crosstown Concourse is the perfect home. In The Mystic\, the world is far-better served by different beliefs than it could ever be if limited by rigid uniformity. \nAnd if this doesn’t rock your gypsy soul\, the goal of The Mystic is to not feel better but get better at feeling.

SUMMARY:Crosstown Arts Presents: Spring Exhibiting Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation with our Spring exhibiting artists—Wiley Henry\, Lawrence Matthews\, and Karl Erickson—on Thursday\, May 28 from 6–8pm. \nWorking across painting\, drawing\, animation\, installation\, and multimedia\, these artists explore identity\, perception\, and the complex relationships between human and non-human worlds. From Henry’s emotionally charged figurative work rooted in heritage and personal history\, to Matthews’ Southern Gothic–inflected investigations of unstable reality\, to Erickson’s playful and layered examinations of ecological systems and non-human agency\, each exhibition offers a distinct perspective on how we experience and interpret the world around us. \nThis artist talk offers a chance to hear directly from the artists about their work\, process\, and the ideas shaping the exhibitions\, followed by audience Q&A. \nFree and open to the public. On view through June 7\, 2026.

SUMMARY:Crosstown Arts Film Series Presents: “No Country For Old Men”
DESCRIPTION:The Coen Brothers’ Academy Award–winning adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel stands as one of the most unsettling American films of the 21st century. Set against the bleak landscapes of West Texas\, No Country for Old Men follows intersecting lives pulled into a spiral of violence after a drug deal goes wrong\, along with the unstoppable force that follows in its wake. \nAnchored by Javier Bardem’s chilling portrayal of Anton Chigurh\, the film explores fate\, chance\, and moral erosion with an almost mythic inevitability. Sparse dialogue\, oppressive silence\, and sudden brutality create an atmosphere of constant dread. Sheriff Ed Tom Bell’s weary reflections frame the film as a lament for a world that no longer makes sense to those who once believed they understood it. Grim\, precise\, and hauntingly modern\, No Country for Old Men demands the focus and scale of a theatrical viewing.

SUMMARY:An Intimate Night with Keia
DESCRIPTION:The Green Room at Crosstown Arts\nTue\, May 19\, 7:30 PM\n\n\n\nFrom $30.39The price you’ll pay. No surprises later.\nBUY NOW \n\n\n\nAbout\n\n\nA night of live music with Strings! Experience Keia in a way you never have before\, an intimate setting with some of your favorite songs. This is a night you don’t want to miss! Keia was born in San Antonio\, TX but grew up all over the world in a Military family. But it was the move to Memphis that helped her establish her sound and performance style. She has performed with some of the best talent Memphis has to offer\, while also building relationships with notable national names like The Bar-Kays and David Porter of Stax Records. \nIn College\, Keia made history by being crowned only the third Black Miss ASU (Arkansas State University). The same university that Miss America 1990 Debbye Turner attended\, and was crowned the first Black Miss ASU. Keia went on to the Miss Arkansas Pageant\, where she was crowned Miss Congeniality\, a name that stuck with her for years to come. She graduated with a degree in Communications emphasis Radio/Television Broadcasting and a minor in Political Science. But the arts kept calling her name. \nYears later\, it was American Idol that served as the true catalyst for Keia to recognize who she was as an Artist and what she wanted to do with her career. The talent competition led her to Hollywood where “Miss Congeniality” wowed the judges for two seasons. Her audition performance of Celine Dion’s vocally rigorous “My Heart Will Go On” prompted guest judge and musical role model \nMary J. Blige to simply declare: “She can sing!” Keia later went on to compete on Season 4 of “The Voice” as well\, but wasn’t chosen for a team. Her journey hasn’t been without its disappointments and de-railings. But she can’t stop singing.
