SUMMARY:Everything Yes
DESCRIPTION:Everything Yes\nTHE GREEN ROOM AT CROSSTOWN ARTS\nWEDNESDAY\, SEPTEMBER 16TH\, 2026\nDOORS OPEN AT 7:00 PM | SHOW BEGINS AT 7:30 PM\n$20 IN ADVANCE (PLUS FEES) | $30 AT THE DOOR\nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \n\nEverything Yes is a North Carolina based jazz-fusion group that grew out of the creative chemistry between friends who first connected in university. What started as late-night jams and throwing wild ideas at each other quickly became a band defined by one simple rule: say “yes.” Every idea\, every experiment\, every spark of inspiration — if someone brought something to the table\, the answer was yes. That spirit eventually became the band’s name. \n\nSpearheaded by drummer / YouTuber\, Zack Grooves\, who has over 440k subscribers\, the band features Cole Sipe on bass\, Reggie McNeill on keys\, Sean Reeser on tenor sax\, and Nathan Graybeal on alto sax. Everything Yes is powered by genuine friendship. Their music blends jazz\, funk\, gospel\, progressive rock\, and improvisation into a sound that’s energetic\, playful\, and always evolving. Their live shows feel like a reunion of friends who trust each other enough to take risks and have fun doing it.\n\nAs they continue touring and building their audience\, Everything Yes stays rooted in the same foundation that began it all: creativity\, openness\, and saying “yes” to the moment.

SUMMARY:Houndmouth @ Satellite Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Support from Tobacco Road\nHoundmouth is an American rock band from New Albany\, In 2026\, the band returns with Lordy\, a stripped-back\, emotionally direct record that marks a new chapter for frontman Matt Myers. After a period of creative stagnation shaped by major life changes\, Myers reconnected with his songwriting through raw\, unfiltered expression\, largely writing alone for the first time. The result is an intimate\, roots-driven album focused on rebuilding\, acceptance\, and forward motion. Supported by producer Brad Cook and a close-knit group of collaborators\, the band continues its evolution while retaining the melodic instincts and Americana foundation that first defined its sound. \nTickets on sale now! \n  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:GWAR @ Satellite Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Support from Weedeater and BRAT\nThe story of GWAR is carved across the history of this hopeless planet\, but GWAR themselves are not of this world…Their story begins far past Uranus\, in the deepest reaches of space\, where the beings known as GWAR were warriors in the Scumdogs of the Universe\, an elite fighting force in the army of the Master of All Reality. But GWAR proved too reckless and powerful\, and after a series of tragic but hilarious blunders\, they were banished to the furthest reaches of the galaxy\, with orders to conquer an insignificant backwater prehistoric mudball known as the planet Earth. Once here\, GWAR\, the original Ancient Aliens\, shaped the face of the globe\, wiping out the dinosaurs\, and mating with apes to create the human race. Having accidentally given rise to all human history\, the Master of All Reality froze them in Antarctic ice where they could do no more harm. It was there they were discovered by a shady entrepreneur known as Sleazy P Martini\, who sat the band down in front of professional wrestling\, late-night horror movies\, heavy metal music\, and a steady diet of crack cocaine until GWAR became the cultural force they are today! \nTickets on sale! \n  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

This concert will feature legendary pianist and composer Kayla V. Waters-Medley. \n\nAbout Kayla V. Waters-Medley\nKayla V. Waters-Medley\, is a passionate pianist\, composer\, producer and curator of PuriKey Productions. Planted in her creative giftings\, Kayla digs her feet deep into holy ground with Anew\, a harmonious and plush artistic offering. With grandeur\, this musically rich work illustrates the unearthing and unlocking of fresh terrains of life with spiritual “keys” of splendor. Scribed with love\, Anew is a stunning addition to her pianistic anthology following Presence\, Coevolve\, and Apogee. With aplomb\, Kayla is elated to be an official Yamaha Artist and a voting member of the Recording Academy.\nSweetly kissed with success\, Kayla beautifully made history by becoming the first female pianist to reign atop the contemporary jazz charts for multiple weeks and is a seven-time Billboard and Mediabase number one artist. Robed with eminence\, Kayla has been blessed to play with a bouquet of music legends including Stevie Wonder\, Patrice Rushen\, The Jacksons\, Regina Belle\, Avery*Sunshine\, Sheila E.\, Dave Koz\, Jonathan Butler and her cherished father {iconic jazz saxophonist}\, Kim Waters. Kayla has bountifully shared her heartfelt artistry all over the globe and across continents {North America\, Europe and Africa} at countless jazz festivals\, theaters\, prestigious performing arts centers\, national television platforms\, and even playing within the oceans and mountains of God’s creation as her most sacred stage.\n\nAs Keeper of the Keys\, Kayla eloquently embraces her pure gift as a musical scribe. She has a lofty understanding of key signatures and orchestral textures that gingerly make her mellifluous compositions whisper softly on the heartstrings of all who listen. Kayla’s artistic pieces {often resembling mini-symphonies} musically paint the fragrance of heaven and her lush harmonies create an abundance of sweet-smelling aromas. Although Kayla holds a piano performance degree from Howard University {Summa Cum Laude}\, she audaciously professes the majestic beauty of the Holy Spirit is what truly anoints her fingertips at the piano. Spiritually grounded\, Kayla revels in sharing her magnanimous gifts faithfully {and fruitfully} on every stage she graces. God’s presence is the undulating rhythm and holy abode of her heart.

SUMMARY:Caroline Davis: Solo
DESCRIPTION:Caroline Davis: Solo\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts \nFriday\, October 9th\, 2026 \nDoors open at 7:00 PM | Show starts at 7:30 PM \n$20 in advance (plus fees) | $30 at the door \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \n\nCaroline Davis explores sonic textures offered by interactive technologies\, sharing sounds from the saxophone that she considers to be distinctive and quirky. Her solo performances are chosen spontaneously\, given the atmosphere of the room and the people present. \nShe makes use of Pure Data patches developed by the open sources community surrounding the Organelle (the technobear\, shreeswifty\, critterandguitari\, tony j morton\, nobuyasu sakonda\, soxsa\, varicela\, nicky-system\, samesimilar\, and chrisk). \nThe music during this performance will pull from Caroline’s recent solo album\, Fallows\, created during a time of rest on land in Ucross\, Wyoming. Bell hooks was a constant source of inspiration during this time\, through the following ideas: love as a practice of freedom\, radical openness\, maintenance of commitment\, using community as a means of escape\, belief in one’s capacity to transform\, what it means to listen\, and eliminating elimination. \n\n\n\n\nCaroline Davis is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist\, composer\, and activist\, whose work is driven by a desire for connection and a belief in music’s capacity to expand listeners’ ears\, minds\, and hearts. A 2025 Guggenheim Fellow in Composition\, she is the recipient of the DownBeat Critics Poll Alto Saxophone Rising Star Award\, as well as fellowships from NYFA\, the Jerome Foundation\, Chamber Music America\, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. Her residencies include MacDowell\, The Jazz Gallery\, Civitella\, and the Rockefeller Estate\, and she has served as a mentor for New Music USA’s Next Jazz Legacy program. \nDavis’s work spans a wide range of creative contexts\, rooted in improvisation and social inquiry. She has released eight albums as a leader and collaborated with artists such as Allison Miller\, Lee Konitz\, John Zorn\, Angelica Sanchez\, The Femme Jam\, Miles Okazaki\, Nicole Mitchell\, Rajna Swaminathan\, and Matt Mitchell. Her most recent release\, Portals\, explores themes of grief and memory\, and she is also a contributor to Terri Lyne Carrington’s New Standards\, a landmark collection of jazz compositions by female-identifying composers. \nIn addition to her work as a performer and composer\, Davis is a dedicated educator\, teaching courses on gender in jazz at The New School and maintaining a private studio at the Manhattan School of Music. Her artistic practice is deeply intertwined with advocacy\, including work for gender equity through This Is A Movement\, and for current and formerly incarcerated individuals through initiatives such as Justice for Keith LaMar\, Freer Records\, Keys Beats Bars\, and Creative Beyond Incarceration.

SUMMARY:Modest Mouse @ Satellite Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Support from Caroline Rose\nHaving recently completed another successful run with Pixies and Cat Power\, Modest Mouse continues to prove themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today. Modest Mouse released their highly anticipated new album\, The Golden Casket\, on June 25\, 2021 via Epic Records. The Golden Casket heralds another new chapter in the GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi platinum band’s unpredictable evolution. Produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and in Modest Mouse’s studio in Portland\, the album hovers in the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science\, frontman Isaac Brock explores themes ranging from the degradation of our psychic landscapes and invisible technology\, to fatherhood. The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms\, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in Brock’s head. \nTickets on sale now! \n  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE
