SUMMARY:Kafé Kirk: Kirk Whalum & Kayla V. Waters-Medley
DESCRIPTION:Kafé Kirk: Kirk Whalum & Kayla V. Waters-Medley\nCROSSTOWN ARTS THEATER\nSUNDAY\, SEPTEMBER 27TH\, 2026\nDOORS OPEN AT 5:00 PM | SHOW STARTS AT 6:00 PM\n$59 IN ADVANCE (PLUS FEES) | $70 AT THE DOOR\nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE\n\nCrosstown Arts presents Grammy-winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum for Kafé Kirk\, an ongoing jazz series in the Crosstown Arts Theater featuring musical and spiritual collaborations with special guest artists. This concert will feature legendary pianist and composer Kayla V. Waters-Medley. \n\nAbout Kayla V. Waters-Medley\nKayla V. Waters-Medley\, is a passionate pianist\, composer\, producer and curator of PuriKey Productions. Planted in her creative giftings\, Kayla digs her feet deep into holy ground with Anew\, a harmonious and plush artistic offering. With grandeur\, this musically rich work illustrates the unearthing and unlocking of fresh terrains of life with spiritual “keys” of splendor. Scribed with love\, Anew is a stunning addition to her pianistic anthology following Presence\, Coevolve\, and Apogee. With aplomb\, Kayla is elated to be an official Yamaha Artist and a voting member of the Recording Academy.\nSweetly kissed with success\, Kayla beautifully made history by becoming the first female pianist to reign atop the contemporary jazz charts for multiple weeks and is a seven-time Billboard and Mediabase number one artist. Robed with eminence\, Kayla has been blessed to play with a bouquet of music legends including Stevie Wonder\, Patrice Rushen\, The Jacksons\, Regina Belle\, Avery*Sunshine\, Sheila E.\, Dave Koz\, Jonathan Butler and her cherished father {iconic jazz saxophonist}\, Kim Waters. Kayla has bountifully shared her heartfelt artistry all over the globe and across continents {North America\, Europe and Africa} at countless jazz festivals\, theaters\, prestigious performing arts centers\, national television platforms\, and even playing within the oceans and mountains of God’s creation as her most sacred stage.\n\nAs Keeper of the Keys\, Kayla eloquently embraces her pure gift as a musical scribe. She has a lofty understanding of key signatures and orchestral textures that gingerly make her mellifluous compositions whisper softly on the heartstrings of all who listen. Kayla’s artistic pieces {often resembling mini-symphonies} musically paint the fragrance of heaven and her lush harmonies create an abundance of sweet-smelling aromas. Although Kayla holds a piano performance degree from Howard University {Summa Cum Laude}\, she audaciously professes the majestic beauty of the Holy Spirit is what truly anoints her fingertips at the piano. Spiritually grounded\, Kayla revels in sharing her magnanimous gifts faithfully {and fruitfully} on every stage she graces. God’s presence is the undulating rhythm and holy abode of her heart.

SUMMARY:Houndmouth @ Satellite Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Support from Tobacco Road\nHoundmouth is an American rock band from New Albany\, In 2026\, the band returns with Lordy\, a stripped-back\, emotionally direct record that marks a new chapter for frontman Matt Myers. After a period of creative stagnation shaped by major life changes\, Myers reconnected with his songwriting through raw\, unfiltered expression\, largely writing alone for the first time. The result is an intimate\, roots-driven album focused on rebuilding\, acceptance\, and forward motion. Supported by producer Brad Cook and a close-knit group of collaborators\, the band continues its evolution while retaining the melodic instincts and Americana foundation that first defined its sound. \nTickets on sale now! \n  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:Yotam Silberstein Trio
DESCRIPTION:Yotam Silberstein Trio\nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts \nSunday\, June 14\, 2026 \nDoors open at 5:30 PM | Show starts at 6:00 PM \n$25 in advance (plus fees) | $35 at the door \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nYotam Silberstein’s blend of straight ahead jazz\, brazilian and other South American styles of music performed with that energetic New York flare promises to bring an emotionally impactful evening that will truly be a night to remember! \nYotam Silberstein\, one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation\, has gained acclaim for a sound rich in bebop and blues as well as musical folklore from South America\, North Africa and the Middle East\, giving his music an increasingly global thrust. His mature compositional gift and gripping interpretive finesse are vividly represented on his 2022 release Universos and his 2020 outing with Argentine multi-instrumentalist and composer Carlos “Negro” Aguirre titled En el jardín. He is a member of the John Patitucci Trio (heard on the acclaimed album Irmãos de Fé)\, has toured extensively with legendary Brazilian singer-songwriter Ivan Lins\, and played with characteristic fire and taste on Monty Alexander’s GRAMMY-nominated Harlem-Kingston Express Live! as well as David Sanborn & Marcus Miller’s Time and the River. He has worked in bands with some of the greatest figures in jazz including George Coleman\, Charles McPherson\, Jimmy Heath\, James Moody and Roy Hargrove\, and has toured with his own groups all over the world in the most prestigious festivals and venues including the Tokyo\, Umbria and North Sea Jazz Festivals as well as Kennedy Center\, Jazz at Lincoln Center and more. \nBorn in Tel Aviv and based in New York\, Yotam was discovered at a young age by the great James Moody. He has evolved into a highly influential artist of his day\, hailed by JazzTimes for a musical output “struck through with passion and intimacy\,” and by The New York Times as a player who “improvises in a cutting tone and writes heady original tunes that seem to tug the straight-ahead jazz tradition in new directions.” Fueled by a deep love of the jazz lineage and a joyful immersion in choro\, samba\, frevo\, tango and other idioms\, he approaches his wide-ranging influences with a near-anthropological meticulousness\, conveying a sense not just of technical knowledge but also rich lived experience.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Alexis Jade and the Gemstones
DESCRIPTION:An Evening with Alexis Jade and the Gemstones \nThe Green Room at Crosstown Arts \nFriday\, June 12th\, 2026 \nDoors open at 7:00 PM | Show at 7:30 PM \n$20 in advance (plus fees) | $25 at the door \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE \nCozy up in the Gemstones’ living room as Alexis Jade debuts new songs from her forthcoming LP\, provisionally titled Dreaming on Company Time. The performance looks back on the miles covered while touring on the tailwinds of 2022’s With Love\, Alexis Jade. The intervening years have brought many hallmarks of life lived out of a suitcase: borrowed couches\, shared meals\, porch sitting sessions\, and often\, as the title song suggests\, “miles and miles of heartache.” A homecoming in multiple regards\, the show will open with a performance from Nashville-based singer-songwriter Sierra Bryan\, who was on tour with Jade at the time many of these previously-unreleased songs came knocking. \nIn a recreation of the Gemstones’ own respective living spaces\, the stage will be adorned with furniture\, pictures\, family heirlooms\, and other mementos that mean home to them. This evening is a celebration of the way artists build home together\, paying homage to the importance of community and collaborative place-making that guides Jade’s creative output as an artist in perpetual motion. \nAlexis will be joined by her musical collaborators who continue to make “home” a moveable feast: Sam Long on bass\, Matt Gaines on pedal steel/keys\, Jon Gaines and drums\, Josh Green on guitar\, and Carter Wenger on guitar.
