Films begin at 7:30 pm (sharp!) at Crosstown Theater
A later work by John Waters, PECKER stars Edward Furlong as the titular character, a kind of typical 90’s era 20 something slacker who still lives at home and takes pictures just for fun in his hometown (and Water’s) of Baltimore. Pecker get’s discovered by a New York art critic (played perfectly by Lili Taylor) and his life, as well as his family’s is turned completely upside down. With appearances by some of the Water’s regulars like Mink Stole and Patty Hearst. Sugar addiction, talking Mary statues, art as a healing and moving force, art as a dividing and destructive force, NYC pretentiousness vs Baltimore realness – too much to list! IT IS JOHN WATERS! CAN’T MISS!!
The Crosstown Arthouse Film Series showcases a diverse collection of independent, international, historically significant, artistic, experimental, cult, underground and documentary features.
