Empowering Women Through Access & Education
A Step Ahead Foundation works to improve the educational, economic, and health outcomes for women in Memphis and Shelby County. Their mission is to provide FREE access to long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), FREE reproductive health education, and scholarships for post-secondary education and training.
Since 2011, they’ve helped over 8,000 women access birth control through a network of more than 20 partner clinics, and educated over 4,000 individuals through programs like Teen Talk, Parent Talk, and Community Talk.
The Step Ahead Scholarship has awarded $1.9 million to nearly 500 local women, helping remove financial barriers to higher education.
Their holistic approach supports long-term planning and informed decision-making, creating healthier futures for women and their families.
